"At A Siding" ....and the link to music for the eclipse |
"At A Siding"
Lyrics: Robert Hunter
Music: Mickey Hart
While you were gone
These faces filled with darkness
The obvious was hidden
With nothing to believe in
The compass always points to Terrapin
(@Robert Hunter, 1977>eternity)
A nice version for the Lunar Eclipse courtesy of David Lemieux & Rhino:
[18 Mar 1977 - Winterland]
"Lady With A Fan>Terrapin Station>Terrapin Transit>At A Siding>Terrapin Flyer"

Notes from the "clearlight.com" web site: "It was only played live once by the Dead, on 18 March 1977, along with an instrumental version of "At A Siding" and a short attempt at Terrapin Flyer - the three are often listed as "Alhambra" on track lists." [

One other item I noticed on this recording: instead of singing, "While the story teller speaks, a door within the fire creaks..." Jerry replaces the word "door" with "wall" and adds a little extra emphasis to it --- I have no idea what that means, however if you choose to listen to it you will hear that he deliberately uses the word "wall" and it's not a "flub" (man, I hate that word -- "flub" --- and how often it is noted regarding Jerry's singing tunes.)
